The city on crossroad of many former cultures. Once old slav town, then part of Austro-Hungarian monarchy, after that temporary seat of part of Czechoslovak government, part of Huungary, capital of eastern region of Czechoslovakia and finally the largest city near the eastern border of the European Union. Kosice is one of cities, where you can feel the atmosphere of mixed old traditions of many central european cultures, alongside the modern way of life of young people. Information technology business and world-known companies are the main power of the economy of the city together with the biggest steelwork factory in central European Union. Tradition of Air Force Academy alongside with the high quality of University of Pavol Jozef Safarik and Technical University is mixed with the rich and warm hospitality of all people living here.

How to get to the Kosice:

  • by plane to the International Airport of Kosice. Do not be surprised about this name, the „international“. It is international, but not very big. By the way it has the longest runway in the central europe. From the airport to the city by take the taxi (cab) or take the local bus.

  • By train to the Main train station in the city. From the Main train station just walk through the park in front of the building of the main train station to the city centre. It will take you only 8 minutes to get to the St.Elisabeth’s Cathedral. By walking you will see the nice Jakob’s Palace. Be aware of cars near this palace, as they are crossing the pavement on one place.

  • By coach (bus). Kosice has very good connection with whole Europe by coaches and also with trains. The main coach station is next to the main train station, so follow the route before to get to the city centre.

Where to stay in Kosice ...

In Kosice you can find many hotels, and also hostels. If you are plannning to live in Kosice for your business longer time, then do not hesitate to find some flat to rent. Many students are living in rented flats, as it is cheaper. Hostels are also cheap, but thez will not offer you so big comfort. Hotels you can find on the highest european standard. Do not forget that you are in old royal city and the hospitality has very old tradition here. The local information centre you can find in the Supermarket of Dargov, opposite the Hilton Hotel. There you can find also perfect maps and the fresh information about culture in the city.
